Measure what changed
Separate learning, applied work and observed business outcomes.
This written lesson is currently in English. Thai lesson translations and narration are planned.
This lesson is ready to read and practise. English narration is awaiting production and source review; Thai narration follows next.
Understand
Learning a topic, applying a change, checking its evidence and measuring a business outcome establish different things. RIM's outcome exercise uses one owner-defined metric and comparable periods around an application date. Choose a count you can actually retrieve, such as inquiries or bookings, and write down exactly what it includes. A selected source label does not verify the count.
Preserve the 28 days before application, the first 28 days afterwards and the next 28 days using the same definition. Wait until a follow-up period is complete before reporting it. Record missing coverage, seasonality and other marketing changes alongside the count. Zero, unchanged and declining results matter. The comparison shows what was reported or observed; it does not isolate the course as the cause.
Practice example
In a fictional exercise, inquiry counts stay the same after a profile edit. Keep that result and note a concurrent advertising change rather than hiding it or claiming the course caused an increase.
RIM coaching: Use the same source and definition when possible. Label manual counts as owner-reported, preserve contrary results and set the next review date.
This is a RIM learning exercise. Use the official source to inform your decisions, then keep a clear record of your own work.
Practise
Apply to your business
Record a baseline before changes and compare matching 28- and 56-day windows when data is available. Label owner reports, system observations, missing data and other marketing changes separately.
Keep proof of your work
A dated baseline and follow-up record, including no-change or negative results; a client-selected source label is not verification.
A saved note is an owner report. Evidence is checked separately; keep drafts, applied changes and public observations distinct.
Check what changed
Schedule the next comparison and preserve the same metric definition.
